DIY Glitter Banner: The Perfect Addition to Any Photo Shoot!

DIY Glitter Wedding Banner

S and I are taking our engagement photos in t-minus 3 weeks., so we spent our weekend shopping for the perfect outfits and making sure we knew just where we wanted to take the photos. After making these decisions, I decided it was time to add a little bit of DIY to the photos by making this Glitter Banner with our wedding date. I can’t wait to see how the photos turn out with this hanging at our location! Stay tuned for these photos by the beautiful Jessica Peterson.

How to make your own personalized banner:

What you’ll need:

  • 5 sheets of 11″x11″ Glitter Card Stock Scrapbook Paper
  • Black Die-Cut Numbers
  • Black Paper
  • Black Ribbon
  • Extra Card Stock for Templates
  • Single Hole Punch
  • Exacto Knife
  • Ruler
  • Hot Glue Gun

Use the Extra Card Stock to create a template for your banner. You can make it any size you like. I added a scalloped detail at the top to give the banner a little something extra. Measure 1 inch down and in on the template and use the hole punch to make holes where the ribbon will run through. It is important that the holes are the same on every piece for the banner to hang right, so make sure you include this on the template.

Use your template to trace two banner pieces onto each sheet of scrapbook paper. You will need 10 banner pieces in total. After tracing, use an exacto Knife and ruler to cut out your banner pieces. Punch holes in the designated spot on each piece.

Layout each piece and place the numbers on them before gluing. Make sure the numbers all line up before you glue them down. Use a small dab of hot glue on each edge of the numbers to attach them to the banner pieces. Use the extra card stock to create a heart template. Trace this template on the black paper four times. Use the exacto knife to cut out the hearts, then attach the hearts to the centers of the four extra banner pieces. Finally, string the black ribbon through the holes, making sure it runs behind the banner pieces. Evenly space the ribbon between each banner piece and attach the ribbon to the banner using a small dab of hot glue next to each punched hole.

Voila! This banner makes a great addition to an engagement photo shoot or wedding decor. Try spelling out “sweets” or “bar” to add a personalized touch to your dessert table and bar at your wedding as well. Enjoy!
